Feasting on the Will of the Father

Rise Above

When I was struggling with weight, I approached food prayerfully. I am always talking to God. He loves that, and He lets me know because He answers prayers. Answered prayer is the key to finding this relationship with God, but it comes only by way of a journey.

First, realize that God is calling you to purity (1 Timothy 4:12), holiness (Hebrew 12:14), and righteousness (Matthew 5:6). You must seek His kingdom and His righteousness first (this is deep). Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Notice it says His righteousness—doing what He thinks is right. We must stay in the Word until His wishes are second nature. After all, He is the Boss and we are employees. It isn’t about performance—it is an attitude.

Second, when you abide in Jesus this way, He promises that your prayers will be answered: If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you (John 15:7). This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us (1 John 5:14). I ask in the name of Jesus that I will be able to find my keys, get through traffic, and pick out something great to eat, wear, and serve at a party. God is so fun!

Discovering His great ability to comfort, care, direct, and guide is my zeal. From this overflow, I write, speak, and sing to help others find the path to getting every prayer answered. When I approach food, I’m prayerful, thankful, and full of joy toward this Genius of recipes. This fullness prevents me from desiring extra food. Keep reading because I have much more to share! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord (Proverbs 8:35).
